Meet the 'D' Family | Pregnancy Announcement

We all have a story to share.

We all have a things that have shaped us into the individuals we are today.

We all have had to weather our own storms at one time or another.

This session was much different than my past sessions. The emotion was raw and real.

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing but it also can be extremely scary for those who have suffered loss.

Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive within 12 months. There are several factors that can shed some light on why a couple is struggling with infertility; however, 15% of the time the cause of infertility is unknown. (obgyn.ucla.edu/infertility) Couples struggling infertility undergo A LOT of tests and stress. It's heart-wrenching for a couple to go through obstacles and hurdles. It's even more disheartening to conceive but then for unknown reasons to lose a baby at term or miscarry at any point during a pregnancy.

There have been studies that have been done that have showed 10-25% of all clinically recognized pregnancies will end in miscarriage. Chemical pregnancies may account for 50-75% of all miscarriages (a chemical pregnancy is when a pregnancy is lost shortly after implantation -- most women don't even realize they were pregnant during this time, since bleeding occurs right around the time a woman's period is due). Most miscarriages occur during the first thirteen weeks of pregnancy. (americanpregnancy.org/pregnancy-complications/miscarriage/)

The beautiful thing about pregnancy though is you don't have to give birth to a child to be considered a mother. Today, you have options, if you are struggling to conceive or carry to term. You can either adopt or choose to have a surrogate.

This beautiful couple went the surrogate route, after the loss of their sweet daughter, Arabella and after suffering numerous miscarriages for unknown reasons. Their amazing story is so incredibly touching because N's completely selfless best friend is currently carrying her daughter, Faith.

Not only am I totally honored to be able to take this journey with them and document this beautiful moment in their lives every step of the way but because of them, my images have been posted on this Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/lovewhatreallymatters/ and this is where you can read the storms they have had to weather together to get to this incredibly sweet ending.
